Oxygen and sunlight are the main elements of hydrocarbon polymers degradation in outdoor. Under the natural conditions (weathering conditions), there are numerous factors like being under sunlight, temperature fluctuation during day and night or seasons, moisture and air pollution with high content of corrosive chemicals, which affects the stability of the polymers. These environmental conditions lead to mechanical failure of polymers creating a brittle surface layer. For the polymers placed under the UV-irradiation, antioxidants are used in polymeric resins to delay oxidative degradation.
